Coronavirus remains a serious health risk and although most legal restrictions have been lifted and many people have been vaccinated, it is still possible to catch and spread COVID-19, even if you are fully vaccinated, we are still in the third wave of this pandemic in the UK.
Parley Pétanque Club have put in place a series of measures to safeguard our members. These measures are based on our own COVID-19 Risk Assessment and using this and the Pétanque England guidelines we have produced a set of Club specific Rules for Parley. Acceptance of these is a pre-condition for return to Restricted Play at the Club.
These measures are aimed at keeping our members as safe as possible; however, it is for individuals to decide if they wish to play based on personal circumstances. Members play at their own risk.
If you are new to the game you will find it easy to learn and you can quickly develop your skills. Why not come and have a go. You will always find a welcome here at Parley Pétanque Club.

Did you know?
When playing Pétanque you do not take turns to throw. You only throw your boule when your opponent has a boule closer to the jack (coche) than you do.
Pétanque is, perhaps, the only sport where age and gender has no bearing on the quality of the game. It is a very simple game to learn but also a very technical game. Everyone can succeed to some level. You are welcome to bring family and friends to see what a wonderful inclusive sport this is. Our players come from across West Parley, Ferndown, Bournemouth, Poole and even Hampshire.
On your first visits our members will be happy to help you understand the game and learn the skills necessary to enjoy it at all levels. We have a qualified club coach available to support you when things are not going quite according to plan and for the most ambitious you can join us and take part in local, regional or national competitions.
"Juniors (under 18s) are also welcome at Parley"
During school holidays we run Pétanque sessions for everyone from 7-16 and provide dedicated free coaching sessions on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00. Come back here to see times and details soon.
Juniors from local schools who have already learned to play in school are welcome to stay and play with senior members after junior coaching sessions.
Juniors who join Parley Pétanque Club are automatically accepted into the Southern Pétanque Association and then eligible to play in local, regional and national competitions.
In 2018 one of our juniors won the English Junior Singles title and was later promoted to the English Junior International Squad. Sally also plays regularly in league matches for Parley. Everyone playing at Parley has the opportunity to go as far as they want.
All Parley coaches and volunteers working with juniors are DBS cleared and work to the highest standards. Our policies can be found under members info.
If you can hold a ball you can play the game
The New Forest Petanque League have been unable to run normal leagues this year but have offered a reduced competition to those clubs able to play. Teams have been drawn into two groups and will play mini leagues following which the top two teams in each group will play off to determine who are this years champions.
